Kevin the trouble maker

Kevin J. Carroll is an extremely interesting man who discovered writing to be one of his best instruments against his almost 3 decade long heroine addiction. Sixteen years later he’s clean and has written an autobiography that chronicles his hilarious adolescent years as a bad boy in a Bronx catholic school, his troubled teen years of experimentation where he met his wife and on through his life as junkie. He recounted to me just a few of the stories that populate his manuscript and I can’t wait for a chance to read it.

Kevin commissioned me for a painting that would attempt to capture some of the shock one would get from reading his book. He imagined Sister Marion, a nun from his time in catholic school over 50 years ago, with a double barrel shotgun to his head while he daydreams of dropping bombs on the school. The book is currently unpublished, but I have good faith that soon will change.

Hec Lo colabo

My long time friend Hecs and I have been drawing together since the 90s. We have many old colaborative works from our teens and early 20s. These 2 character sketches are some newer fun efforts at working together (see full versions in Sketches Gallery). Both are his original pencil drawings with my coloring. Expect more of these from time to time. Maybe next time will be my pencil sketch and his colors.

The Taxi Amarillo of today is a sometimes pop sometimes experimental mostly Spanish always powerful rock band. But when TA first debuted it was presented as a Latin R&B duo in “Chris Hierro & Cruzmonty Presentan a Taxi Amarillo”. These two paintings graced the back and front cover of that album. I found this awesome second hand thrift shop in my neighborhood. They sell all sorts of cool things and collectables ranging from clothes and shoes to toys and comics to music and films, plus more.

After speaking with the owners, the super cool brothers, Pat and Bizzid, we arranged to have some of my prints displayed and for sale in their shop. My work fits right in with the rest of the crazy colorful things you can find in the store.

FULL CIRCLE movie underway

I am part of an excellent film crew who are ready to make one kick ass movie, Full Circle. The movie is my friend, Slick’s, very own brainchild and I have been involved since it’s inception. I am storyboard artist as well as the project’s illustrator and I even sit in on producer meetings to add my 2 cents.

We are now trying to raise money to begin shooting.
