A beautifully illustrated coming-of-age family tale of facing heartbreak and the face of death. Each page is an amazing work of art, and the folktale-esque story is charming.

In Search of Sacha is a wonderfully told fairy tale for our modern day. A new story, yet filled with ancient truths of familial love, the responsibility of parents to their child, heartbreak, and the trials that a boy endures to become a man. Beautifully illustrated, the words and the art combine to form a powerful story! Highly recommended!

‘In Search of Sacha’ inspires and immerses; a dreamlike, dark wonderland of Christian Allegory, the majesty of the Art leads us from one scene to another. The story entices us to take yet another step, each one leading us deeper into the woods of meaning, in search not only of Sacha, but of ourselves –

take the journey, and find yourself ‘In Search of Sacha’!💖

In Search of Sacha is a heartwarming story that proves true love can still triumph over evil and conquer all. A tale of morality and character. I was inspired by the beautiful illustrations which also told the story of Sacha’s journey through his parent’s eyes in a vibrant visual way. This is a story you will fall in love with.

I’m not sure which I enjoyed more – the gorgeous illustrations, or the entrancing story that accompanied them. This is one of those books you really need to see to understand how beautiful it is. The illustrations look like paintings that you’d expect to see hanging on someone’s walls. The story itself reads like a myth or fairy tale, with danger and monsters, but also love and caring. (Honestly, although kids are sure to enjoy this, I think adults might enjoy it even more). The book is short, but it’s so easy to get lost in the world of the story. I’ll definitely be recommending this to anyone who enjoys fairy tales!

Concept, theme and execution all come together in this unique picture book about a family contending against the forces of darkness for their son’s survival. The story of Amar and Elysia’s search for the missing Sacha, has the flavor of a very old folk tale, and weaves themes of responsibility, innocence, love and sacrifice into a profound and epic quest. It’s told in lush, high language that doesn’t talk down to kids, but also keeps adults engaged in the mystery and action.

The accomplished full-color paintings leap off the page with an intense, cinematic quality that perfectly complements the elegant prose. Furthermore, the artist’s grasp of composition and human anatomy invite the reader to become lost in the dreamlike, detailed scenes. Some downsides to the work are that a few of the menacing creatures might a bit scary for younger kids, and the text font, while lovely, can be hard to read for either beginning readers or elderly eyes.

Something between a fable and an allegory, In Search of Sacha is an impressive and highly satisfying work that deserves a spot in the library of any family that appreciates the rare, the true and the beautiful.

I finally got to read In Search of Sacha illustrated AND written by Lolo. This beautiful story is about two dedicated parents looking for their child of light who may be slipping into darkness. I love the loving relationship between the parents and the beautiful examples of light versus dark shown in this book. This book would make a good story time for a family or an older kid into fantasy with light versus dark themes. If you are looking for Christmas gifts this would be a good one. The silver foil on the title is so pretty. 😍 The art is gorgeous.

I must say every page is a piece of art. I love the details of each page. The story is amazing for kids since it is about family and how the parents would do anything to protect and find their lovely child. The font of the text is beautiful and artistic, however I find it is a little hard to read. Other than that, this book is a god tier piece of art!

In Search of Sacha is visually stunning, the artist/author has painted a portion of himself into this story, capitalizing on his own flow of inspiration that requires no third party interpretation. This was a unique read for me, stirring my imagination with elements of: creation, courage, love, devotion, forgiveness, family and redemption, all presented in a world of fantasy that challenges the rapid fire twenty-first century mind to slow down and take it all in. The story offers lessons that crosses cultural lines, but not all are immediately apparent. This however, is part of the beauty of a tale such as this, because it offers delayed realizations. In Search of Sacha searches for a place of honor in the heart. My only criticism would be, upon re-editing, to secure a font that is less demanding for concentration.

What a great book! The gripping story and the gorgeous art kept me enthralled and I couldn’t stop turning pages!

It is great pleasure to give my thoughts and assessment of this literary debut of Manuel Guzman. This is an adventure story so put your seat belt on. Search and rescue with challenges both physical and spiritual. Not for the faint at heart. The story has many elements that I like. But one of my favorites is that the story line and the sequence of events are not predictable. Since the main character is, I suppose, somewhere in between ten and sixteen years old, I would also suppose the same age group is the target for reading. You can grasp the story line easily as you read but there is always the white part of the page speaking too. So there are things said by leaving them unsaid. What I like about the story is it keeps you guessing and forces you to use your creative imagination. As an adult, I still enjoyed it because of this particular feature. One last thought. The illustrations are done by the author. A great advantage to the reader, as the illustrations vividly capture the authors mindset. The illustrations are beautifully and PAINT-stakingly done. Beautifully bound and the paper is of the highest quality to ensure the fullness of the colors. Worth having, reading, and passing around the family. Won’t tell you the story at all… you’ll have to read it yourself.

  13. Nadya

I loved the book! Very captivating artwork and excellent story line with undertones of spirituality and lessons that not only further helps reinforce the story line but gives the book an overall more dramatic tone. Anybody at any age would enjoy reading In search of Sacha. Great job Manuel!

  14. Jennifer Napoleon

In Search of Sacha is a lovely work of breathtaking art and fascinating characters. Manuel built a world where fear, despair, broken heartedness, good and evil are personified and come face-to-face. The Spiritual theme throughout the story adds purity and depth. Advanced and challenging reading for children. Suitable for 9-13 year-old readers due to the vocabulary and length of the story (not a short read for a picture book). This is certainly a beautiful keepsake book which is great for gift-giving.

  15. Valerie Galletta

Not only does every page have incredible art, but it immediately thrusts the reader into engaging all five senses and becoming a part of the story. This book has so many lessons and is so relatable to issues that plague society today. This artistic book is like nothing I’ve ever read, and is incredibly easy to follow. The characters in the book have both spiritual and physical characteristics, which encourages the reader to do some self reflection along the way. This action packed story is filling on many different levels. The first time I finished it, I felt as if I just watched a movie, oblivious to any outside distractions. HIGHLY recommend. I’ll be ordering more for Christmas gifts

  16. Claribel

In Search of Sacha is a wonderful book and the illustrations are pure magic. Both my 13 and 7 year old children loved LOVED the book. I found it thrilling and extremely mesmerizing. Each page captured the emotions of Sacha’s journey in such a captivating way – we could not stop reading!

  17. Krystn Franco

In Search of Sacha is a beautiful story that transports you to a magical land of good and evil. You immediately become very attached to the characters, concerned for their well being and that of their son. The story draws you in quickly, not only through word but with the beautiful and emotional way the pages are illustrated. I look forward to enjoying more work from this talented artist.

  18. Chris Hierro

ISOS is a beautifully written and illustrated book that takes you on a riveting journey from beginning to end. A breath of fresh air in these critical times if only for its return to a time when beauty was revered and upheld. Where the basic universal virtues were respected and held sacred. It reminded me of the kind of fantastic worlds I loved escaping to as a child. Anxiously waiting Lolo’s follow up.

As the founder of the Dominican Writers Association, a platform that focuses on developing writers and sharing information for self-publishing I am very proud to say you are one writer who has done an impeccable job with this book, from the illustrations to the storyline, it’s a beautiful job! Congrats! I will also add that you are now 1 of maybe 4 Dominican American writers who have written in the genre of fantasy. We certainly need more of you.

  20. Cole Viscichini

A gorgeously illustrated theological fantasy tale that provides an enriching Christian experience to both youth and adults! The story reads like a Homeric poem and covers the full range of human experience from the magic of parenthood, the irresponsibility of childhood, the fickleness of girls, the self-abuse of boys, the battles against animal nature, the potencies of the demonic, to the power of love and forgiveness, the embrace of death and the overcoming of one’s darkest shadows. In Search of Sacha is an epic hero’s journey and an insightful Biblical analogy wrapped in the royal garbs of professional quality graphics and lyric prose. Every Christian home should have a copy! Lolo’s work is leading the way in the new Christian Renaissance movement.

  21. Martha E Cruz

I read the book twice since I got my copy. I love the amazing art work as much as I love the story. The illustrations kept me coming back for more clues to the adventure. In Search of Sacha is a much needed story, at this time when compassion seems to be in short supply. It reminds us that love always prevail. I recommend for children of all ages

  22. Rick

Amazing art work illustrating the lesson stemming from the beginning of time – The ‘fall’ of man when blinded by love. The depths of one’s journey is highlighted through the combination of great writing and beautifully colored artwork. A great story for the family as it reveals real spiritual issues along with hope, inspiration, and stability that comes from a strong family bond and proper order.
Excellent job on the website. It adds intrigue and wonder as to how else stories can be delivered in these technologically advanced times.

  23. Ryan Toll

In Search of Sacha is an excellent book! The story is engaging, the emotional themes are compelling, and the art is beautiful. The illustrations make the story come alive and fit the feel of the book quite well. They turned out a bit too dark in color on several pages, but it was otherwise wonderful. I look forward to seeing further works built in this world.

  24. Danny Torres

In Search of Sacha is an amazing read! With beautiful art on each page and a captivating storyline to follow suit, I highly recommend this book. It’s a story of love, loss, and a relentless pursuit. You’ll find yourself connected to the characters and sensing their emotions!

  25. James T

This is a hauntingly beautiful book. All of the pictures are standalone pieces of art, which are able to tell the story alone, with a little help from the text to add to the depth. I will no doubt return to this book, and I look forward to future work by M. Guzman.

  26. Chris C

This book is a work of art! The book is filled with page after page of photorealistic fantasy. The story guides the reader through many adventures on the main quest of the parents, who are looking for their lost son. The artwork stands on its own and is such a treat for your eyes and imagination. Our children devoured it in one sitting despite its generous amount of story. It’s hard to put down once you pick it up. I absolutely recommend picking up a copy and transporting yourself into the world Guzman has crafted.

  27. Richie C.

Mesmerizing illustrations, complemented by imaginative storytelling. I found myself staring at the artwork, before and after reading the pages. I look forward to more of his work and sharing this with my children for years to come.

  28. Alex A.

Mr. Guzman has truly created a storybook for the ages. Lavish illustrations, an ethereal story, and a positive message of hope and family. Have I mentioned that art? Utterly stunning and it truly brings the tale of Amar, Elysia, and Sacha alive. I can’t wait for more–a sequel perhaps?

  29. Samuli

Very glad to get a book that is equally beautiful with the message it brings as it is with its art. In an age where the core family is demonized and parenthood seems to be forgotten, more stories such as these are great to see. Struggle is what makes people grow into something more. ISOS perfectly encapsulates this message. I will be glad to share this book with my own children some day. Very prompt delivery and well-packaged as well. Looking forward to what comes next from you.

I got the book last week, and I took my time carefully reading it and appreciating the art. This is a moving story, by itself. A story of a lost son and his parents’ struggle to bring him back from danger. Also a story of the struggle of a young boy to grow and overcome his own challenges. I can’t help but think of the many parallels I can draw between this tale and personal experiences I have had. I already love this book. I believe the message is one of power and purity. Love and strength. There is a reminder in this book, that we are each capable of more than we think. Thank you for bringing this beautiful book to fruition. I will read this again and again, and I hope to share it with my children when they are older.

  31. William
